as you would maintain your office, you maintain your web site. It
generally refers to:

Keeping you web site updated with new developments. There might be new
products, new telephone numbers, change in organisation and families
etc, and you must make them happen on your web site. This is the
beauty of it, you can change indefinitely. Some, even suggest to make
daily or weekly or monthly news section on your web site. It may not
necessarily be time bound and may be updated only when something
happens.

Paying the annual Domain name registration charges. You lose your
domain and your competitors and cyber squatters will thank you for
that.

Paying the monthly or annual hosting charges as the case may be
Usually
your web site designer takes care of such chores or offer Annual
Maintenance Contract (AMC)
